Frogger's Adventures: The Rescue does not run out of the box on Windows 7/10, and even later versions of Windows XP (Windows XP SP3). This is due to some poor coding decisions they made during development of the game.
It's taken quite some work, but we've come up with a fix to make it run on modern systems. (Credit to grimdoomer , who is largely responsible for this patch)
There are two different patches included.
#1) Patched Exe This is the most straightforward to use, but it may be slower to receive updates / changes, because it's more difficult for us to work with. This patch is built by applying the .asm file to an unpatched exe using XePatcher. (The .asm file in the source code.)
#2) Detours Exe + dll This patch will require you to move "SwampLauncher.exe" and "Swampy.dll" to the same folder as FrogADV.exe. (Usually "C:\Program Files (x86)\Konami\Frogger's Adventures\"), and launching the game by running SwampLauncher.exe. This works by using a tool called Detours, which lets us easily replace code inside of the .exe with any C++ code that we write. This is built through Visual Studio, as a normal project.
There will be a black screen for around 15-20 seconds (seems to be some kind of audio related setup), then the game will boot normally.
