It is possible to play without running Setup.exe
Just three steps, before playing.
1) Gather all requirements in the same folder.
2) Run, Enable_Windows_95_Compatibility_Mode.cmd to enable Windows 95 compatibility.
3) Run, VIDSETUP.EXE to configure the resolution.
Requirements
-------------------------------------------
Executables & Configuration
frogger.exe
VIDSETUP.EXE
SETUP.INI (VIDSETUP.EXE, Requires SETUP.INI)
Data Archive
frogpsx.mwd
Runtime Dependencies
DirectX 5.0 APIs (Optional, DirectX 11 (Windows 7) & 12 (Windows 10) are backwards compatible)
DirectDraw {Render Library}
ddraw.dll
DirectSound {Low-Latency Sound Interface Library}
dsound.dll
DirectInput {Input Device Library}
dinput.dll
DirectPlay {Network Communication Library}
dplayx.dll
dec130.dll
edec.dll
mrd3d08r.dll
mrd3d16r.dll
mrgld16r.dll
winplay.dll
winsdec.dll
winstr.dll
Scripts
Enable_Windows_95_Compatibility_Mode.cmd
Image Reference
Info
(This is just for future reference)
None of the DLL files need to be registered.
If you want to place the DLL files in, predefined environment variable, evade System32.
If They are placed in, System32, it wont run. All files in System32 are always assumed x64-Bit
By default, x32-Bit DLL files go in, "%SystemRoot%\SysWOW64"
Known Problems
No Cut-Scenes & No Music:
I am hoping to patch that, such that the video, and music files are read from current directory not disc.
Registry Keys:
There are two root keys and, few sub-keys that are made (not included here) that are optional.
The only problem is you won't be able to run frogger.exe from VIDSETUP.EXE
VIDSETUP.EXE queries both keys to get frogger.exe location.
I will update with more problems and fixes.
I will post a mediafire link, if it is okay.
